This was my first attempt at quiche, and it was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. (It helps that I used store-bought pie crusts instead of making them from scratch...) I mixed together a few different recipes for the end product, making adjustments along the way. I think this is what was in the final deliciousness.
Sausage Quiche
- 9" pie crust
- 5 large eggs
- 1 1/2 c. half and half
- dash of salt, pepper, and onion powder (I'm sure an actual onion would be more delicious. Some day...)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
- 1/2 lb. sausage (You could substitute/add any fillings of your choice)
- Make a pie crust. Or buy a refrigerated one like I did. (I do have high aspirations of making pie crust from scratch sometime.)
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Use a blender to mix up eggs, half and half, salt, pepper, and onion powder.
- Spread cooked sausage on the pie crust, followed by the shredded cheese.
- Pour egg mixture into pie crust.
- Important: Cover loosely with foil and place on a baking sheet. (...because the Pioneer Woman said so. But seriously... she's a genius. The baking sheet catches any overflow and the foil prevents it from browning too quickly.)
- Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 10-15 minutes.
